A Statement Of Our Beliefs
When the Board and Advisory Council of our ministry originally met
to form this ministry, we avoided the idea of writing a formal "Statement of Faith" for as long as possible. Each of us carried
memories of past experiences of working with other groups to help
hammer out similar documents. (It's strange how many things upon
which Christians can sometimes disagree.) Some of us actually toyed
with the idea of simply handing out bibles along with a sheet of paper
that declared, "We believe this!" However, we eventually decided
that such a plan of action would be ill advised as there would
inevitably be some people who would misunderstand our intentions and
think we were making light of our beliefs. We're not ashamed of our
beliefs - they're just numerous, subject to interpretation, and
sometimes diverse. This should not come as a surprise given the fact
that God, Himself, says in the scriptures that 1.) His ways are not our ways, 2.) His
thought processes are "higher" than ours, 3.) That He fills all of
heaven and earth, 4.) That if everything that could be said about Him
was written down, the whole earth and skies could not contain the
volumes of text, and 5.) That there are times He would like to tell us
more but we wouldn't be able to handle it just yet.
